Sian and David from Woody's Lodge

At the Masons Group, we’re delighted to be so actively involved in our local community. From sponsoring local sports teams to supporting Armed Forces charity, Woody’s Lodge.

We have been working with the team behind the scenes since 2016 when we first discovered Woody’s Lodge. The ethos of giving space and time to veterans of the Armed Forces and the Emergency Services really speaks to us, especially since many members of our family have proudly served. Our entire Masons Group has lent support to Woody’s Lodge when they’ve needed it, from helping them move into their new premises, to providing flexible storage when they’ve needed it and meeting spaces at The Business Centre.

Which is why we were absolutely delighted to learn that Sian Woodland, the Communications Officer and part of the core foundation of the team that began Woody’s Lodge, has been nominated for a Welsh Veterans Award! She has been shortlisted in the Role Model of the Year category!

To be nominated for this category you should be: ‘A former Veteran in business who has not only transitioned successfully to the civilian world but has been a pillar of the local Community and also a strong and effective role model to other service leavers.’ Welsh Veterans Awards

We think that Sian fits this description perfectly! We asked Sian how she felt about the nomination and she said:

I’m just absolutely amazed and still in shock at being nominated! Thank you so much to everyone who nominated me for the award, it was so unexpected, but I am so grateful.’

Sian is a core part of the team at Woody’s Lodge and their vision of providing support, mentoring and signposting to veterans, reservists, emergency service leavers, and their families. The Welsh Veterans Award Ceremony will take place at the Village Hotel in Swansea on 26 June 2019!

Make sure you keep your fingers crossed for Sian!
